According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are actually multiple types of coronaviruses. SARS and COVID-19 are two major viruses known in the CDC.

Sharing methods very similar, that is both the virus transfer from one host to another host by respiratory droplets i.e., through the air (airborne spread). Despite sharing a very similar transmission method, we see a noticeably far lower fatality rate in COVID-19. Although this number could be highly affected by the continued outbreaks in Italy, Spain, the United States(US), Germany. The mortality rate of closed cases in China, where more than 70% of cases are closed, is found to be only at 4.5%. Developing countries like India, Indonesia were populations really high, the virus has started spreading. We could expect the mortality rate to increase further.

This could draw the conclusion of COVID-19 being a less-lethal virus compared to SARS
